TreeMachines

The TreeMachine series

I heard the sound of a man fall from the sky, through the trees, bouncing and breaking branches as he fell to his death, a parachute failure from 9000 feet. The trees received him and guided him down, softening a landing that was not enough to keep him alive, but enough to keep me awake. I had to go into the woods and find his body and those woods sparkled with static energy. They were haunted and enveloped me into magical thinking about the “otherness” of the natural world. In this event, I became aware of our interconnectedness, nature and I. Through compulsive drawing of tree lines and the development of my own visual language of form, line and shape, the Treemachines were born. They are now metal interactions of strong, body-resistant forms intent on survival from threats both above and below.
